Describe your short-term medical insurance program.

Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) has the goal to do all AGB can to provide the tools to prepare an employee for a business trip outside of their home country as well as providing ongoing information, services and insurance protection while on the business trip.

AGB WorldTraveler insurance program provides peace of mind for the business traveler. This medical plan provides insurance coverage for urgent and emergency care expenses. In addition, WorldTraveler provides coverage for emergency medical evacuations and repatriation while on a business trip. Travelers are covered for trips outside of their home country that do not exceed 180 consecutive travel days with no more than 270 travel days in a 12 month period.

The program also provides Internet-based services to help members obtain important information about where they are traveling, such as security alerts and city profiles, how to obtain medical services including translation tools for medical terms and prescription drugs, and how to access physicians and hospitals through provider search tools.
AGBWorldTraveler also has optional features including: business travel accident coverage for the employee, supplemental medical coverage for eligible dependents (spouse and/or children), and supplemental medical coverage for leisure travel when combined with a business trip.

Do you offer a fully insured product or self-insured only?

Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) WorldTraveler is available on a fully insured basis only.

Do you sell individual products, group or both? What are your minimum annual premium requirements?

The Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) WorldTraveler insurance plan is a group insurance program. We do not market
this product to individuals. Contact us directly for Individual and Family Global Medical and Dental Plan Options.

The minimum annual premium requirement is $2,500.

Are dependents eligible for the coverage?

The Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) WorldTraveler insurance plan includes optional dependent coverage for eligible spouses and dependent children, age 18 or younger. When selected, dependents are covered as long as they are traveling with the covered employee.

Do you cover leisure travel in conjunction with a business trip?

Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) WorldTraveler includes optional business sojourn coverage, for leisure travel directly before, during or after a business trip.

How will an employer submit eligibility information?

We will not require the submission of eligibility information for the Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) WorldTraveler plan. Plan sponsors will be asked to provide an eligibility contact who can be reached both during and outside of normal business hours to ensure emergency situations are handled appropriately. For the optional AD&PL coverage, beneficiary documentation is required; the plan sponsor will need to provide it to AGB upon request in the event of an AD&PL death claim.

Describe the materials a business traveler will receive when enrolled in the plan.

Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) will send the following materials in electronic format to the designated contacts within your company for distribution to the covered business traveler:

  • Summary of benefits
  • Certificate of coverage
  • ID Cards

Additionally, a supply of welcome letters will be provided to the plan sponsor during the implementation of AGB WorldTraveler.

How often does an employer remit premium payments?

The premium payment for the Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) WorldTraveler insurance program will be required up front for the following 12 months of coverage.

Do you offer a hospital payment guarantee? If there are limitations, please explain.

Depending on the situation, the customer service department at Aetna Global Benefits (AGB) is available to help members with hospital admissions around the world. Aetna Global Benefits are also able to arrange payment of covered expenses when using a facility with which AGB has a direct settlement arrangement, or on an ad hoc basis upon request. Throughout the world, AGB has established over 57,000 direct settlement arrangements with hospitals and other medical providers in over 180 countries. In negotiations with international providers, AGB establishes reimbursement and prepayment procedures and creates predefined admissions processes that simplify the member’s ability to access care at the facility. In instances where AGB has established prepayment arrangements, no additional authorization is needed prior to prepayment.
